Library Board of Trustees Meeting

Minutes
Present: Matt Assenmacher, Jodie Colone, Mary Evergreen, Richelle Hocking, Bridgette Rosek, and Crystal Walter.
Absent: None.
Also Present: Holly Hentz, Christine Weber, Rana Emmons.
This regular meeting of the Hamburg Township Library Board of Trustees was called to order by Colone at 7:00pm in the Patricia Waters Community room.
Approval of:
- Motion to approve Agenda as presented made by Hocking; seconded by Rosek. Motion carried.
- Motion to approve the minutes from August 19, 2025 as presented made by Rosek; seconded by Hocking. Motion carried.
Call to the Public: None present.
Financial:
- Motion to accept the Annual Audit for FY 2024-2025 as presented by Rana Emmons from Post, Smythe, Lutz & Ziel with an Unmodified Opinion made by Evergreen; seconded by Hocking. Motion carried.
- Motion to approve August 2025 Financial Report made by Walter; seconded by Hocking. Motion carried.
- Motion to approve Voucher #666 in the amount of $83,800.01 made by Evergreen; seconded by Rosek. Motion carried.
Librarian’s Report:
- In-house Statistics: Patrons Served: 4,351; New Patrons: 49; Item Check-outs: 6,433; Computer Uses: 173.
- Online Statistics: Libby: 3,590; Zinio: 588; Fold3: 22; Heritage Quest: 5; Ancestry: 0; TumbleBooks: 9; Niche Academy: 56.
- Other News: The library was present at The Aging Parents Resource Fair on 9/16/25 at 2/42 Church.

- Motion to approve frontloading each enrolled employee’s health savings account with $2,500 made by Evergreen; seconded by Walter. Motion carried.
New Business:
- Motion to approve unpaid Library closure on December 26 & 27 made by Rosek; seconded by Walter. Motion carried.
- Motion to approve rollover of Flagstar Bank CD in the amount of $279,665.90 and interest earned into a 119 day CD at the rate of 4.00% or better on 9/17/25 made by Evergreen; seconded by Hocking. Motion carried.
- Motion to approve rollover of CIBC Bank CD in the amount of $522,325.49 plus interest earned maturing on 9/23/25 in to the best possible rate at time of maturity made by Evergreen; seconded by Walter. Motion carried.
- Motion to approve rollover of CIBC Bank CD in the amount of $277,574.88 plus interest earned maturing on 10/3/25 in the best possible rate at time of maturity made by Rosek; seconded by Hocking. Motion carried.
- Motion to approve purchase of light filtering solar window shades for south side of building from Library Design Assoc. at cost of $10,2267.00 made by Evergreen; seconded by Walter. Motion carried.
- Motion to approve purchase of ADA Listening assist system Option 1 for the amount of $5,444.15 made by Walter; seconded by Assenmacher. Motion carried.
Friends Report - Debbie Kooperman
- August Gift Shop Income = $432.39; Fall Garden Series in process with 13 registrants = $325.00.
- Watershed Calendar copies for BOT, Library Staff and Friends requested.
- Marilyn Pettigrove’s daughter and granddaughter made book pavers which are on display in the Serenity Garden!
- Fall Crafter’s Day was cancelled due to low enrollment. Annual Meeting/Election 9/17/25 at 6:30pm.
- Kristine Wolff and Pat Dare will be representing FOHTL at 2 Halloween Events: Freedom River Fall Festival Event 10/18/25 and Downtown Hamburg Trunk or Treats on 10/31/25.
Relevant Board Issues:
- Reminder meeting on 10/1/25 at Fowlerville Library.
