Hamburg Township Library Board of Trustees

October 20, 2009

 

Meeting called to order at 7:00 pm in the library meeting room.

Members present: Stella Campbell, Sally Crouch, Peg Eibler, Michaelene Farrell, Richelle Hocking and Duncan McIntyre.

Also present: Holly Hentz and Christine Weber.

 

 

Guests from First National Bank of Howell did not attend the meeting.

Board tabled Rana Emmons, auditor from Post, Smythe, Lutz and Ziel until November 17, 2009 meeting.

 

 

1)     A motion to accept the agenda as presented was made by Crouch.  Seconded by Campbell.  Motion carried.

 

2)     A motion to approve the September 15, 2009 minutes as presented was made by Campbell.  Seconded by McIntyre.  Motion carried.

 

3)     A motion to accept the minutes of the October 8, 2009 was made by Crouch.  Seconded by Farrell.  Motion carried.

 

4)     A motion to accept the Financial Report for September 2009 was made by McIntyre.  Seconded by Crouch.  Motion carried.

 

5)     A motion to accept Library Voucher # 475 in the amount of $59,055.18 was made by Campbell.  Seconded by Crouch.  Motion carried.

 

Librarian’s Report

1)     Hentz reported the stained glass widow has been installed.  The Board members will assist in the wording of the wall plaque.

2)     Hentz reported the Hamburg Community Fine Art Fair netted the library a profit of $603.89 for table rentals.  29 artist and crafters participated. Event welcomed by the community.  Next year's event is planned for October 16, 2010.

 

Correspondence

1)    Pinckney High School Football acknowledged the library’s support of their team.

 

Old Business

1)     The Board tabled the investment policy discussion until the November 17, 2009 meeting.

2)     Hentz will invite Mike Homier from Foster Swift Collins Smith to discuss various legal issues.

3)     Beautification Committee has a pre-order lily sale. A bake sale is planned in conjunction with the library's book sale on November 7th. Funds will be used for garden maintenance. 

 

New Business 

1)     The Board discussed their choice of a new bank. A motion to open three accounts in National City Bank in the total combined amount of $250,000 was made by Campbell.     Seconded by Farrell.  Motion carried.

2)     Howell Area Chamber of Commerce scheduled a Municipal Summit for Oct. 22 from 7:30-9:30am.  Board members were not available to attend.

3)     A Trustee/Director meeting featuring TLN director Jim Pletz will be held at the Howell Carnegie District Library on Oct. 28, 2009 at 6:30pm.  Eibler, Farrell and Hocking will attend with Hentz and Weber.

1)  None present.

 

A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Crouch.  Seconded by Duncan.   Motion carried.

 

The meeting adjourned at 8:04pm.

 

 

Next meeting will be November 17, 2009 at 7:00pm.
